New knitter in town #Review

ClassicallyByJordan is a new Etsy shop set up by Jordan, who proclaims she's "always looking for a DIY project".

Her attention to detail is notable right from the start with her thoughtfully cohesive packaging!
I had chosen this attractive $10CAD stack of 13 environmentally conscious facial pads in hand-knitted cotton squares of soft colors intertwined with white yarn. This 3.5 inches by 3.5 inches breed is of a larger size for those larger tasks. You can gauge the depth of the bundle here:

ClassicallyByJordan's products are available in an assortment of shades including this chic arrangement:

Jordan warns, "Never put in dryer to avoid the risk of shrinking them." Wish I knew that a little earlier before I shrank a few of my crocheted scrubbies from another brand! Included with every order is a pack of Soak, a ground-breaking no-rinse wash for your delicate textiles.

Orange you glad

This is a rare color:
Maybelline Wet Shine Diamonds liquid lip gloss - Mandarin Ice. Texture is grittier than other lip glosses of this genre but the outcome is awesome. Perfect color that I never would've dreamed up myself with glitter that is bold but yet not too over the top for a day of fun! It brightens up the whole face.

Everything's coming up roses #Review

Look what promptly came in the mail today!
Ta-da! Say hello to AnnieBritches, an Etsy shop started by Jen springing from her own experiences with her daughter Annie.
You'll find these eco-friendly reusable wipes will have many clean-up jobs in your household. $13.37CAD will get you a dozen of these versatile single sided sheets made of ultra soft flannel squares completed by rounded serge edges. The slightly fuzzy material is especially suitable for sensitive baby skin!
This is seriously one of the coolest fabric prints I've encountered. Classic artistic garden roses in eternally sophisticated grey are exquisite against a modern electric yellow background.
Utterly gorgeous!
This silly sushi set is delightful too!

Business is booming #Review

Recently I've shifted direction in my pastime and added "product reviewer" to my repertoire of hobbies. I may have been a tad too enthusiast diving into it and now I have line-up of writing I need to get done. The symbiosis between sponsor and reviewer is always a gamble, and the lesson I've been told before but forgot is to be choosy.

Etsy shop SkiboBabyBoutique is a thought-out educated choice. Owner Erin is a graduate of a fashion design program. Her contemporary baby designs utilizes only 100% organic cotton knits which are GOTS certified in an assortment of on-trend palettes.

Erin happily sent me a sampler package containing these versatile mix and match articles:
$18CAD geometric triangles knotty hat

and 2 pairs of $30CAD pants
in roadster vehicles sketch print
and abstract teal pattern.
The clothes are obviously high quality and incredibly comfortable. Smooth, stretchy, and vividly printed!

Cinderella dreams #Review

I may not be a very avid DIYer, but nevertheless, my sewing kit was lacking a pincushion; so I was on the lookout for this essential item when I chanced by these $15.97CAD whimsical pumpkins from PinkChampagneStudio.
Straying from the traditional tomato, this pumpkin shape still applies the same principals but in a refreshing twist.
Green felt leaves are secured down by clear bead dewdrops atop a plumply stuffed body of vintage white roses in full bloom upon a fall harvest rust cotton background. The sturdy filling is natural, unbleached wool roving.

Certainly this mysteriously beautiful pincushion can help me to sew what I've dreamt up in my head into reality!

Evergreen #Review

Good morning!

Kathy and Eryn of Etsy shop SoulSoapMuskoka sent a sample trio pack of their earth toned bamboo/wool blend make-up remover scrubbies for my review. These are a reusable environmentally friendly replacement for disposable cotton balls.
Because of the bamboo in the yarn, their finished product is incredibly soft, supple, and cushy beyond expectations! You can definitely feel the difference in quality as compared to similar face scrubs from their competitors. Bamboo is naturally antibacterial, a renewable resource, and over many years, is biodegradable!
I really like the Evergreen color too (You may have noticed I like anything that matches my hair color of the moment)! At $5 for a pack of 7 to get you through a week, these little hand-crocheted rounds come in a myriad of shades as shown here:

Included as well was this sample of SoulSoapMuskoka's lovely rose soap! The delicate natural scent is divine!

Whole miniature rosebuds are embedded as a topping like the final touch on a piece of cake!

Their anti-inflammatory and antioxidant Green Tea soap also looks really enticing!

BAM #Review

Wardrobes of fast-growing kids have such short lifespan in the closet! It's hard to part with perfectly good fabric when there's still so much wear left, especially if the textile is a unique find. Kiki of BellylaughBabywear takes these garments and re-purposes them for a second go as one-of-a-kind adventures.

She sent me these 2 upcycled baby banana boy bibs:

a $7CAD slouchy comic book awesome pattern. Think of it as a backwards cape!

a $6CAD contemporary pistachio and brown large scale polka dot for your lil style maven.

Kiki has plenty more cool re-used prints in her repertoire. Check out this 80's racing action fabric:

Her goal is to be an environmentally conscious vendor. So if you would like to supply an item to be recycled (old baby outfit, favourite blanke, etc.) please contact her!

Peak-a-boo #Review

When I saw Bahde's $20CAD baby blanket full of smiling sweet peas, I thought, "What a really fun piece!" The fuzzy fleece will have your child cuddled as sweetly as these giggly peas in their pods! This is everything a blankie should be: soft, warm, and in an endlessly happy print.

The solidly embroidered text "Sweet Pea" makes sure the message hits home.

36" by 30" is large enough to serve as a crib blanket.

See? Just right for a sweetie!

Made in Canada and easy to care for too! I always try to look out for materials that are resilient to machine washing and drying!

Connie's family company Bahde would like to gift you all a 10% off $25 coupon code JESS10 which expires Dec 31, 2015. So share this and share the laughter! Bahde has a wide range of well-made items to offer!

Roaring #Review

When picking shoes, neutral tones will go with any outfit, yet infant style doesn't need to be drab! These smiling little lion slippers will make your baby the center of attention!
Andreea's crafty Etsy shop DeeaCraftyBoutique takes custom baby crochet seriously. Andreea strives to be very accommodating in fulfilling her clients' personalized wishes. Starting at $16.10CAD and up depending on the size, these perky lion slippers are available from newborn to 3 years old. They are each custom-made to order so they could be crocheted in any colour combination as catered to your imagination. The standard uses premium acrylic yarn, but at the requested of the customer, could also be made with 100% cotton for an extra fee. Andreea is also quick to point out the thought process that went into making sure these slippers are suitable and safe for children of all ages because she's embroidered the eyes, nose, and mouth; no choking hazards for that extra peace of mind!

A whale of a time #Review

I'm reclined on the veranda sheltered by lifeboats watching seaplanes take-off. Various watercraft float by giving the illusion that the ship I'm onboard is moving while I know we're docked. Rolling waves twinkle in the warm sunlight. As of yet I have not experienced a real good whale-watch moment.
The only sea creature in my line of sight is this $20CAD baby whale stuffed toy from Etsy store TabbynSkatesTabbynSkates is named after after a twist in the owner's 2 daughters' nicknames Abby 'n Kate!
The whale is made from colorful cotton print and swirly fluffy backing. A squeaky tummy adds excitement and ribbon spout and fins give baby fingers something to fiddle with. The fins also harbor a surprise! If you pull on the ribbons, out pops a pram leash! How delightfully innovative! The attached latch gab accommodates most baby rings and a KAM snap closure hides away the pram leash when not in use.
Such a well constructed toy in tastefully coordinated soft blues and yellows!

Retro is timeless #Review

Pam's chill attitude Etsy store PositiveHarmony exudes boho living in everyday essentials. Her package arrived with an endearing handmade card which makes for a deep impression!
This reversible psychedelic pattern baby bib is resplendent in a laid back way with it's calm nature inspired tones presented in a whirlwind of geometry.
Generously sized for maximum coverage, it packs plenty of practicality.
There is also a layer of felt in between the green and brown cotton for an absorbant boost! At $8.00CAD, this bib's attention to detail is unsurpassed!

Deerest #Review

Julie sews immaculate little outfits such as this $39.90CAD matching hat and pants newborn set for her shop Your Little Loves

The look is modern rustic in this comfortable jersey knit in a muted color palette of grey and cream with splendid antlered stag head silhouette pattern.

Off-white cuffs are just that extra finishing touch that elevates these items. If you prefer a visually stronger border, the cuffs can made in black. Contemporary and quality rolled into one, this is truly an excellent baby shower gift that any expectant mother could hope to receive!

For a timeless appeal, I am fond of this nautical navy anchor print:

And for your little tough guy, cute camouflage catches my eye:
